About the role
The Control Centres at BayWa r.e. are responsible for the operational control and the remote monitoring of wind and solar power plants worldwide. For our Munich based Control Centre, we are looking for someone to coordinate and lead our team of currently 7 Operational Controllers. The goal for this position is to grow into the teamlead function, to take over more and more responsibility step by step and gain full ownership of all technical, disciplinary and process-related topics for the team. 

What You Will Do

  • Team Management - You lead and coordinate the Munich based Operational Controllers and know how to build, enable, and motivate the team to meet the highest quality and safety standards regarding the operational control and remote monitoring of wind and solar plants in the EMEA region. 
  • Shift and Task Management - You take ownership of the organization of the shift system and responsibilities with the goal to meet highest expectations in plant performance, technical availability, and communication management.
  • Process and Quality Management - You oversee the implementation, management, control, and improvement of our business processes focusing on scalability, efficiency, and quality, including further development and adjustments of software and tools.
  • Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) - You take lead of managing, applying, and developing our Health & Safety systems in close cooperation with other departments.
  • Customer Relations – You are the primary contact for technical asset managers, customers, manufacturers (OEM), grid operators and other third parties.
  • Global Collaboration on Operations & Strategy – You foster strong and regular exchange with the Control Centres in Edinburgh and Bangkok on an operational and strategic level to drive the development of the Control Centre services via joint solutions and approaches.
  • Training & Education – You provide systematic trainings and guidance to the team and facilitate an active exchange of ideas, best practices, and solutions.

What You Bring

  • University degree in engineering, natural sciences or comparable qualification
  • 5+ years technical experience in managing the technical operations of wind farms, solar plants or similar technologies
  • Solid understanding of the service business regarding monitoring and supervision of wind or solar farms including handling of authority obligations and active power control
  • A team-oriented leadership style with a good balance of people- and results-orientation in an international environment
  • Well organized and solution oriented way of working, with the ability to deal with competing priorities
  • The strong ability to communicate effectively on all levels, paired with customer and service orientation 
  • A balanced, curious, and creative personality with the strong willingness to continuously learn and develop
  • Comfortable in a technical, digital and international work envirnonment, with the ability to quickly familiarize with new tools and software systems
  • Fluent in spoken and written German and English; French or Spanish is a plus
  • Expertise in SCADA systems, energy trading, process automation, data analytics or O&M of storage technologies would be desirable 
  • Willingness to occasionally take over weekend and on-call duties is essential
