Due to our dynamic growth, we are expanding our team in Sacramento and are currently looking for a Solar Estimator:

Your tasks

  • Manage the project estimation process and be responsible for timely delivery of estimates to sales groups within the company.
  • Support project sales during proposal stage by reviewing bid documents, RFPs, preliminary project information, and site characteristics.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of the scope of work.
  • Participate in bid strategy and presentation meetings as requested.
  • Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price.
  • Coordinate the entire estimating process from concept through project award and create Bill of Materials for project cost and construction.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from past projects, subcontractor costs, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures.
  • Develop cost reduction processes and material usage methods to reduce cost of goods while maintaining quality.
  • Develop knowledge of best material suppliers to stay abreast of pricing and other opportunities to provide better value to customers.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related programs, preferred.
  • 5+ years of extensive construction estimating experience, solar or high voltage projects preferred.
  • Must have hands on knowledge of principles of estimating including budgeting, tracking, change orders for PV solar projects. Experience with battery storage preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus the ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems is essential.
  • Intimate knowledge of construction activities, production rates, equipment selection, building types and construction methods.
  • Must have the ability to prepare complex proposals with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other qualification will be a plus.
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated organization and analytical skills and the ability to diagnose and analyze problems and drive appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in an organized and accurate manner.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen
