We are recruiting a Senior Offshore Wind Developer for our office in South-Korea.

Purpose:

You will be responsible for the development of offshore wind in South-Korea
The position will be based in Seoul, South Korea.

Responsibilities we will trust you with:

General/Market

  • Monitor and assess offshore wind energy policy in South Korea, proposing and agreeing with the management business development courses of action for the country

  • Gather market intelligence through maintaining a network of industry contacts (Genco’s, OEM’s, consultants, investors, banks, developers etc.)

  • Maintain an up-to-date development cycle gaant chart and checklist of permits/licenses required by renewable energy projects in South Korea (noting differences between regions)

  • Attend industry events and raise BayWa brand awareness in the market

  • Participate in team and company meetings, discussions and workshops

  • Keep the management informed on project status (reporting regularly) and business challenges and contribute to the team, providing support where required
  • Assist the colleagues for the Offshore Wind Central Organization to set up and store all market intelligence and market analysis

Transactions & Business Development:

Origination:

  • Responsible for the origination activities for Offshore Wind Projects (bottom fixed and floating) in South Korea

  • Lead the origination of opportunities by participating in meetings, calls, preparing research and analysis etc.

  • Coordination with BayWa r.e. Offshore Wind Central Organization to align with the Offshore Strategy

 Transactions:

  • In coordination with the Offshore Wind Central Organization, manage and execute participation in Offshore Wind project acquisitions/JV transactions

  • Propose BRE Team members for each opportunity to cover necessary capabilities

  • Lead and coordinate the Teams activities in relation to the opportunity, providing reporting as necessary

  • Collaborate in all commercial and financial evaluation aspects, coordinating technical and other inputs from internal and external specialists

  • Manage interface and use of resources of other supports departments in our regional hub when needed to secure buy-in, expertise and internal approvals

  • Define scope of works for external consultants' support in line with needs and within the assigned budget

  • Coordinate external consultants´ support ensuring internal experts are involved where needed to define the scope of work, review outputs and ensure expenditure is planned and executed within budget

  • Manage the needed BRE management approvals for all activities

  • Deal Structuring: Propose pragmatic conditions for partnerships in line with Corporate standards and to ensure that the right Governance is in place to protect BRE’s interest in investments.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate the execution project activities of the SPV during the first steps of development of new projects

  • Work with the Offshore Wind Legal Counsel to propose appropriate basis of operational governance of the Project Companies (SPVs) for approval, then deliver within that framework

  • Propose the overall planning and budget of the Project Companies (Devex, Capex and Opex) for management approval, then track and deliver on those budgets

  • Prepare and coordinate project reporting for BRE and/or SPV purposes

  • BRE Offshore Knowledge Management: In areas of lead responsibility, ensure the transfer of knowledge and best practices in the different markets to defined BRE employee groups​​​​

Your areas of knowledge and expertise:

  • Hands on experience in developing wind projects in the South Korea; ideally on offshore

  • Strong understanding of permitting regulation, requirements and the development process in South Korea

  • Demonstrable track record of successfully working with local government departments and national licensing bodies

  • Experience with public consultation and land compensation process is desirable

  • Good negotiation & relationship building skills, are you able to build and maintain rapport internally and externally

  • Problem solver, able to demonstrate abilities to take on multiple simultaneous issues
