About the role
BayWa re UK Limited are seeking a Senior Grid engineer to join our growing team.  As a Senior Grid Engineer you will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of the grid connection package for Onshore Wind, Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage projects throughout their lifecycle. 
 

What You Will Do

  • Manage the successful delivery of the grid connection package for Onshore Wind, Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage projects through their lifecycle;
  • Provide technical support to project development and delivery teams relating to grid connection and electrical design.
  • Support the development and construction teams with project design, procurement, feasibility assessments and in any other way relevant to grid connections;
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks, advise the business on an ongoing basis about existing and anticipated grid – related liabilities and costs.
  • Manage the delivery of works being undertaken by electrical and grid connection contractors;
  • Maintain ongoing communicating with the project teams;
  • Act as the company’s interface with network companies (DNOs, TOs and the SO), engage as required to achieve successful outcomes;
  • Deliver work to a high level of competency.
  • Mentor and support Grid Engineers.
  • Work with Grid Connection Manager to develop and implement systems and process relevant to optimal delivery of grid services.
  • Adhere to the company’s SHEQ guidelines, IT policy and other requirements, to be specified.

What You Bring

  • Experience delivering distribution and / or transmission grid connections for generation or demand projects
  • A good understanding of grid connection process, regulations and policy;
  • Experience of working with network companies;
  • Expert understanding of power systems and ability to undertake / review complex power system studies;
  • Commercial awareness and an appreciation of Charging
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
