About the role
We are currently looking for a Product Manager Energy Storage (m/f/d) who will lead the strategic development and coordination of energy storage projects within BayWa r.e., optimizing systems, evaluating business models, and managing external and internal communication.
The position will preferably be based at our headquarters in Munich. Remote working within Germany is also possible.

What You Will Do
- You will support funding acquisition on international and national levels, execute market development studies including data analysis and reporting, and evaluate global market intelligence and legal memos.
- You will assist project developers by sharing knowledge and building capacity, provide guidance on storage tools implementation, lead knowledge transfer within the BayWa r.e. Group, and coordinate key accounts.
- You will identify optimization possibilities and improvements for our existing system design, and conduct assessments and due diligence on business models in commercial product development.
- You will prepare technology roadmaps, establish and coordinate global tools, support technical standardization, liaise with R&D, Engineering, Procurement, and Suppliers, gather market intelligence, monitor industry and regulatory trends, coordinate integration of sub-systems, conduct supplier and market analytics, perform cost-benefit calculations, and assess risks in technical product development.
- You will represent BayWa r.e. at conferences, exhibitions, public events, and in the media, prepare communication materials, including flyers, and coordinate site visits to external partners and clients for realized storage plants. Additionally, you will be involved in public affairs, stakeholder engagement, and external communication.
- You will manage information across BayWa r.e. regions, segments, organizational units, and national storage focal points in internal communication. Furthermore, you will drive the creation of trainings and expertise within the company.
Your Profile
- Academic degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, business management or in a comparable field. Other degrees are valued if experience matches the profile requirements.
- At least two to five years professional experience in the energy storage industry (ideally in the field of utility scale battery energy storage systems).
- Sound expertise in storage technology and fundamental understanding of techno-economic factors.
- Experience with different energy storage designs, applications, operational strategies, and suppliers and experience with energy market designs and regulations.
- Experience in renewable energy and/or BESS project development and management is a plus.
- Seasoned personality who can stand his ground in front of technical and non-technical stakeholders and who is experienced in dealing with upper-management.
- Solid negotiation skills, coupled with high sensitivity to different mentalities and practices in an international business environment.
- Experience in working with external advisers and international teams.
- Fluency in English is required; fluency in German would be nice to have.
- Willingness to travel (~10 - 20 %).
