UK is a leading, reputable, international renewable energy project developer and service provider with offices in Edinburgh, Milton Keynes and Cork.  In the UK and Ireland, we provide technical and commercial services and manage more than 265 MW of operational solar and wind assets for our clients. 

The UK and Ireland are one of BayWa r.e.’s core markets, and our internationally trained and qualified teams cover the entire range of activities required for the production of renewable energy, from site development through turnkey construction and financing to sale. We also offer technical and commercial asset management for our own as well as third parties’ sites.

About the role
We are looking for a Learning & Development Manager to join our team in the UK and Republic of Ireland.  Through effective collaboration and partnership, you will help shape, develop and deliver solid development solutions to ensure our employees advance their skills and knowledge, supporting our organisation grow and succeed through its workforce.
The successful candidate location can be flexible and be based from our Milton Keynes, Edinburgh or Glasgow office.

What You Will Do

 Responsibilities we will trust you with:
  • Partner with senior and line managers, corporate L&D and HR to create and execute appropriate development  / learning solutions, strategies and programs  that are aligned with the organization’s objectives.  This could include introduction of a graduate programme, development of career paths, development of function progression routes, implementation of apprenticeship programmes.
  • Act as the principal point of contact for anyone with questions about training and development.
  • Work in conjunction with line management, SHEQ and HR to ensure competency matrix meets the requirements of the role and business.
  • Maintain training needs matrix ensuring compliance if maintained where appropriate for specific trainings.
  • Support managers develop and coach their team members through appropriate solutions available to meet identified development needs.
  • Develop annual training plan ensuring compliance certificates renewal dates are adhered to and annual appraisal talks needs are considered.
  • Design deliver e-learning courses, workshops and other trainings as approach in conjunction with corporate development solutions.
  • Access appropriate external funding sources to support development agenda.
  • Tracks budgets, negotiates contracts, build and maintains relationships with third-party training providers.
  • In conjunction with procurement, support the arrangement of 3rd party courses as appropriate.
  • Measure return on investment and evaluation of development solution.
  • Liaison with Corporate functions to ensure corporate initiatives support/meet  local needs.
  • Support the roll out / communication of corporate development solutions / activities.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in learning trends, changes in learning theory, and developments in learning technologies and implement as appropriate.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
  • Proven experience as an L&D Manager, Training Manager or similar in the renewables sector or similar industry
  • Current knowledge of effective learning and development methods
  • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices
  • Experience in project management and budgeting
  • Proficient in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; sharp business acumen
  • Ability to build rapport with employees and vendors
  • Professional certification (e.g. CPLP) desirable
  • Ability to be flexible and travel to sites in UK and Republic of Ireland
  • Clean Driving licence
  • In possession of the right to work in the UK
