In the APAC region, we already have more than 270 employees located in our country offices throughout the APAC region (Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, and Australia). Our business activities include trading, project development, operations & maintenance and tailor-made energy solutions.

About the role:
You will oversee all operational and strategic aspects to ensure the development of our solar, onshore wind, battery and hybrid projects activities within APAC. The degree of your involvement in day-to-day operations may vary depending on the maturity level of each market.

The location can be based in any of our offices in Australia, Thailand, South Korea, or Japan.

What You Will Do

Responsible for the further development and expansion of our BayWa r.e. renewable energy Projects’ activities in APAC, actively identifying and promoting investment opportunities for BayWa r.e. (onshore wind, battery, hybrid, and solar projects)
Establish necessary project strategies, market surveys and competitive analysis to define attractive new project opportunities.
Oversee the preparation and submission of project proposals, with support of Engineering team to deliver feasibility studies, and technical due diligence reports.
Initiate and manage the acquisition, greenfield development, and implementation of new projects throughout APAC.
Develop and lead a portfolio of initiatives and programs that ensure BayWa r.e long-term competitiveness.
Establish budgets, business plans and investment approval request papers, management reports and Board briefings on all ongoing and planned business activities.
Support the development of appropriate standards and processes with a regional outlook and cross-technology/collaboration approach.
Manage and provide functional leadership to our development teams located across the APAC region, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration while adhering to our company processes and guidelines.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Corporate Finance, Legal, and Project Management, to ensure smooth project execution and delivery, and to secure a successful implementation of workflows and procedures defined at a regional level for cross-functional teams.
Manage and build relationships with key stakeholders, including government authorities, landowners, suppliers, contractors, and financing institutions.
Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on project development progress, risks, and opportunities.
Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and policies to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks.
Review and manage the project development team’s performance, foster continuous improvement, and create a positive and inspiring working environment that drives success towards business and organizational goals.

What You Bring

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in project development within the renewable energy sector, with a focus on wind and solar projects.
Strong knowledge of project development processes, including site identification, feasibility studies, permitting, and stakeholder management.
Proven track record of successfully developing and delivering wind and solar energy projects in the APAC region.
Sound understanding of renewable energy technologies, grid connection requirements, and regulatory frameworks in the APAC region.
Fluency in English, a second Asian language would be an advantage.
