The Role

We have a clear mission to grow our Australian business focussing on utility-scale onshore wind, solar and storage.  To support this, we are recruiting for a dynamic Head of Engineering to lead the engineering team. You will provide expert engineering services in prospecting, resource and site assessment, design and construction to support growth in BayWa r.e’s generation portfolio.
Location for this role is flexible. However you will need to spend time collaborating with our teams in Tasmania, Victoria, NSW and QLD.
In this role you will be leading the Engineering team where you will be responsible for:
  • Innovation and excellence in engineering
  • Coordination and provision of expert engineering input into the assessment, development, construction, and operation of new generation opportunities
  • Supporting and leading activities in prospecting, feasibility, and due diligence
  • Undertaking wind and solar resource measurement campaigns in accordance with best industry practice to deliver optimal project financeable solutions
  • Leading energy yield analysis, optimal project layouts, and design
  • Supporting commercial review, drafting and negotiation of technical aspects of procurement and Construction and Operation and Maintenance agreements.  Including technology selection, technical specifications, performance warranties and other key technical schedules
  • Managing external and internal engineering support to deliver agreed outcomes
  • Integrating and contributing to the BayWa r.e. technical team internationally
  • Coordinating development and operational budgets for the Engineering team and managing assigned budgets within agreed parameters
  • Management of the Engineering team to deliver high performance outcomes
  • Adhering to company policies with a strong focus on the environment, and health and safety.  Leading safety in design.

Our ideal candidate will be

  • A leader in the field of resource assessment and engineering of renewable energy generation projects (wind, solar, BESS, hydrogen)
  • An energetic manager of high-performance teams who naturally uses visionary and coaching leadership styles.  You will lead with enthusiasm, compassion, and be a lifelong learner
  • Min Bachelor of Engineer with honours
  • 10+ years’ experience in the Renewable Energy sector in Australia
  • Willing to travel occasionally and capable to travel to sites which may involve walking, and/or, driving off road across site etc
