BayWa r.e. recently started on its next journey becoming an Independent Power Producer (IPP) building and managing a portfolio of our own-built onshore wind and solar PV assets. Thereby transitioning from a pure-play service and project provider to an integrated renewable energy developer and asset owner.

About the role

Due to our dynamic growth, we are currently looking for a Financial Portfolio Analyst (m/f/d) to support the IPP team in the commercial and business case development of the growing portfolio, project pipeline delivery and financing and market research activities.
The position can either be located at our headquarters in Munich, or at one of our other office locations in Germany. Working remotely within Germany is also an option. 

What You Will Do

  • You will use best practice financial models and analysis tools to evaluate acquisition and operational onshore wind, solar PV and storage projects as well as other business development activities in terms of costs and value.
  • You are responsible for the financial tracking of a large database of pipeline projects required for IPP asset selection and review data visualization tools to support investment decision making.
  • You will set-up and manage an internal database of project benchmarks to assist with cross checking and evaluation, working alongside centralized teams of Project Financing, Corporate Finance and Global Services.
  • You will support Asset Managers with operational budgeting and forecasting to ensure projects are technically and financially optimized.
  • You will assist Project and Transaction Managers with documenting project business cases and supporting analysis that feeds into acquisition opportunities and internal investment decision papers.
  • You will support in the determination of new techno-financial and ESG based key performance indicators (KPIs) to support in the design and build of an economic and environmentally optimized IPP Portfolio model.
  • You will work to assess route to market opportunities for projects coordinating with country Project Managers and centralized teams.
  • You are responsible for enhancing best practice methods, valuation processes, knowledge management, internal tools & templates.

Your Profile

  • Relevant university degree in numerical discipline such as Mathematics, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Science or similar.
  • Relevant work experience of at least two years in finance, banking or relatable industry.
  • Experience of business modelling and valuation techniques, ideally with exposure to project financing.
  • Creative and pragmatic with an ability to find solutions to challenging problems.
  • Ability to act independently and takes on challenges willingly but are also a team player, willing to provide support to all colleagues.
  • Understanding of database management with experience in using data visualization tools, e.g Python, PowerBi, etc.
  • Renewable energy industry valuation or research experience would be a plus.
  • You are fluent in English; fluency in German and other languages would be a plus.
