We have a clear mission to grow our Australian business focussing on utility-scale onshore wind, solar and storage.  To support this, we are recruiting for an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Planner to join our Development Team.  You will responsible for leading the pursuit and delivery of environmental and planning approvals for projects, and providing strategic advice to the Development and Engineering team.
 
Location for this role is flexible in eastern Australia. However you will need to spend time collaborating with our teams in Tasmania, Victoria, NSW and QLD.

Your tasks:

This role will be responsible for delivery of environmental and planning approvals for large scale wind, solar and storage projects.  You will be part of a team creating innovation and excellence in renewable energy development including:
  • Assisting with the identification and assessment of utility scale renewable generation and storage projects.
  • Managing and advising on primary and secondary consents.
  • Establishing and realizing project development plans that ensure tightly controlled, successful development opportunities are created.
  • Working with communities and stakeholders to ensure development success and excellence in community engagement.
  • Ensuring internal stakeholders understand project risks and are kept informed through use of effective ‘early warning’ and exception reporting systems.
  • Adhering to company policies with a strong focus on the environment, and health and safety. 
 

Your profile:

Essential attributes of candidates to be considered for this role include:
  • Passion for creating positive change through renewable energy.
  • Tertiary qualification in planning or other relevant degree.
  • Experience in statutory planning, including demonstrated understanding of the NSW, Victorian and Queensland planning processes for large scale renewable energy.
  • A strong understanding of environmental approval legislation including the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and relevant state acts.
  • Demonstrated success obtaining planning approvals for large infrastructure projects including planning permit applications and modifications.
  • Project management experience including managing budgets and timelines.
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to navigate a highly variable environment, solving complex problems and delivering solutions.
  • Be a team player who approaches work with enthusiasm and is lifelong learner.
  • Be willing to travel and capable of spending time walking and off-road driving on site.
  • Able to commence work in Australia in the next 4 months, with Covid travel restrictions this unfortunately excludes many overseas based candidates.
