BayWa r.e. recently started on its next journey becoming an Independent Power Producer (IPP) building and managing a portfolio of our own-built onshore wind and solar PV assets. Thereby transitioning from a pure-play service and project provider to an integrated renewable energy developer and asset owner. 

About the role
Due to our dynamic growth, we are looking for an experienced Engineer Independent Power Producer (IPP) (m/f/d) based at our headquarters in Munich or within Germany to support our Business Entity IPP in technical and engineering-related topics. 

What You Will Do

  • You will manage the technical due diligence of new assets to be added to the IPP portfolio (wind farms, solar farms, energy storage systems): yield evaluations, plant design, grid connection, SCADA, certification, equipment supply and operation & maintenance (O&M) contracts, spare parts
  • You will support the IPP Asset Manager in assessing the technical performance of the IPP assets
  • You will provide the IPP Asset Manager with technical advice on required O&M or retrofit/upgrades measures for IPP assets as well as the IPP asset management strategy
  • You will critically review in-house or third-party plant design based on experience with IPP plants in operation; establish technical requirements for future plants
  • You will analyze technical failures in IPP assets and derive recommendations for the O&M and spare parts strategy of these plants as well as equipment supply and plant design for future assets
  • You will evaluate technical operational risks and opportunities of IPP assets
  • You will liaise with global, regional and local engineering departments on a regular basis reg. new plant design, major technical issues encountered, best-practice sharing, etc.
  • You will develop network of internal experts and external engineering services companies that can support IPP in specific technical issues at hand
  • You will contribute to enhancing best-practice methods, processes, knowledge management, internal tools & templates

Your Profile

  • Relevant degree in a technical/engineering area: mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering, site assessment
  • At least five years of professional experience in engineering of renewable energy power plants (wind and/or solar farms)
  • Sound technical and engineering capabilities, strong interest for all technical disciplines
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sound knowledge of power generation and transmission/distribution systems
  • Creative and pragmatic with an ability to find solutions to challenging problems
  • Organized multitasker, who is naturally curious, self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Hands-ob mentality, flexible attitude and ability to be proactive as well as provide support to all colleagues
  • Excellent English & German communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
