About the role

We are seeking to appoint a community engagement manager to join our team in the UK.  This position will sit within our onshore development team and cover all UK onshore renewable projects from development stage through to post-construction.  The successful candidate will lead engagement with key external stakeholders such as local community councils, parish councils, local and national elected officials,  and work with the Project Management team to develop bespoke engagement strategies applicable for each individual project. 
 
The successful candidate will manage the community engagement process from project inception to post-construction, and work closely with our global communications team.
 
The successful candidate location can be flexible and be based from our Edinburgh or Glasgow office, however travel to communities local to our projects will be required on a regular basis.

What You Will Do

  • To manage the project community engagement process from an early stage to establish strong relationships with stakeholders, and maintain this throughout a project life cycle.
  • Work closely with the BayWa r.e. Development and Construction Managers to ensure important and regular messaging is communicated to stakeholders.
  • Lead on engagement with elected officials.
  • Coordinate public consultation events and strategies.
  • Creation of press releases (project-related communication) in coordination with the BayWa r.e. global marketing communications team and/or a local agency. 
  • Manage project website updates and communications, with support from the Development and Construction Managers.
  • Supporting the Global marketing team with strategic marking in the UK.
  • Manage local community initiatives including attendance at local events and local sponsorships. 

What You Bring

  • You have a degree with a focus on marketing / communication or a comparable education with at least 3 years of professional experience in marketing, preferably in the renewable energies / solar or wind sector
  • You speak and write fluent English
  • You have a confident demeanor and are assertive
  • You are proactive and open and are not afraid to approach external and internal stakeholders
  • You are organized, with an ability to work across multiple projects and technologies
  • You like to work independently and self-responsible, but are still a real team player
  • You maintain an overview even when there is a lot of work and are able to supervise several projects at the same time and to prioritize them
  • You have a confident writing style and a good sense of language and communication
  • You are confident speaking publicly in front of audiences
  • Ability to be flexible and travel to sites in UK
  • Clean Driving license
  • In possession of the right to work in the UK
