Groenleven, a fully-owned BayWa r.e. group company, is headquartered in Leeuwarden and has offices in Heerenveen and Utrecht, and offers a full range of services, from feasibility studies, engineering and development to construction and commissioning, as well as operation of solar farms, both floating, on land and on roofs, and storage units. Among our customers are international investment companies and energy companies.

About the role

We are looking for an entrepreneurial Chief Financial Officer (f/m/d), responsible for all our BayWa r.e.operational, holding and project companies in the Netherlands and in Belgium covering all our Solar, Storage Project activities as well as Energy solutions and Asset Management. The position is based preferably in Leeuwarden or alternatively in Utrecht.
 
Depending on your experience, this role will also include other key expertise areas such as Legal, IT, Human Resources, or others. Potentially you will represent the company legally as a Statutory Director / Managing Director / Board Member.

What You Will Do

  • You will co-pilot of the MD’s, strongly supporting them in day to day general management of our company.
  • You will contribute to the overall business strategy.
  • You will manage the company and project risks including reliable group reporting and mitigation plans.
  • You will steer annual and medium-term plans and budgets for all Benelux activities to achieve our targets.
  • You will manage the accounting, controlling, treasury and tax teams (approx. 15 people (3 direct, 12 indirect)). Building high performing teams.
  • You will be responsible and accountable for group reporting in IFRS and for sustainability and local financial reporting to be approved by external auditors.
  • You will manage cash flow projections and payment process.
  • You will drive the financial project management and cost controlling.
  • You will develop and improve the reporting structure and reports.
  • You will be responsible and accountable for the internal control of the companies.
  • You will steer all key financial transactions such as project financing, project sales, company financing in full collaboration with our group expert teams and your local teams. Ensuring financial awareness in decision making and to minimize financial risks.
  • You will manage tax reporting, filing and optimization.

Your Profile

  • You have a university degree with a major in accounting, controlling, financing, auditing, or extensive financial experience.
  • You have at least 15+ years of relevant work experience including team management, preferably in the energy industry and in the Netherlands.
  • Ideally you have enlarged your responsibilities in another field of expertise such as Legal, IT, Human Resources.
  • You have experience of project acquisitions / sales and complex business models.
  • You have experience in restructuring, mergers and business integrations.
  • You have work experience in an international environment in a large organisation.
  • You bring broad experience in external accounting, business controlling, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting as well as consolidation.
  • You have strong leadership skills and a high business interest.
  • You inspire your team members and colleagues and encourage their personal development and growth.
  • You have entrepreneurial and strategic skills, a high level of commitment and a strong stakeholder orientation.
  • You are an experienced user of MS Office, especially Excel and ERP systems.
  • You speak and write Dutch and English fluently. Knowledge of the German language is preferred.
  • You work with continuous improvement regarding processes and working methods.
  • You embrace technical and digital development to improve our daily work processes.
