BayWa r.e. Benelux S.R.L. focuses on wind energy project development as well as wind project acquisition and construction in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. About the role

To strengthen our growth, we are currently looking for a Business Development Manager Energy Storage (m/f/d) to join our team in Belgium. The focus of this role is initially on the development of large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the Walloon region, but may expand to include development of wind, solar and/or hybrid projects.
 

What You Will Do

  • You will analyze local and national regulations and create and maintain a network in Belgium
  • You will identify opportunities for potential BESS projects or development collaborations
  • You will initiate and manage the development of stand-alone BESS as well as BESS co-located with renewable energy projects
  • You will meet with landowners (agricultural and industrial) to introduce BESS opportunities and convince them to cooperate with BayWa r.e. - this task can be expanded to include solar and wind projects
  • You will negotiate and close land contracts with landowners and their advisers with the support of legal experts
  • You will prepare a business case and techno-economic analysis of the projects with the support of internal business analysts
  • You will coordinate the preliminary, final and executive technical design of BESS (plant layout, geo-technical studies, technical reports, etc.) with internal and external advisors
  • You will drive and represent the development and permitting process (including preparatory studies and required stakeholder management) of your projects to ensure that ready-to-build status is achieved
  • You will deliver ready-to-build projects to your construction colleagues and support them during the construction phase
  • You will process actions, reporting and project management in digital tools to keep an overview over multiple projects

Your Profile

  • Academic degree in a technical-, economic- or planning-related field
  • 2-5 years' work experience in a similar field
  • Affinity to the renewable energy market, previous experience with energy storage is a plus
  • Experience in managing business cases, techno-economic project analysis and planning procedures
  • Experience in real estate or acquisition of industrial or agricultural land is a plus
  • Experience with Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook - experience with CRM, GIS, and project management tools is a plus
  • Friendly, proactive and hands-on mentality with a self-starting attitude
  • Full command of French and English (Dutch language skills are a plus)
